legallyblond2day:  How about a white elephant gift exchange. Everyone brings a present thats a little off the wall (usually a price limit of $10 or so), and wrapped. You place it under the tree, and once everyone arrives have them draw a number out of a hat. Number one picks a present and unwraps it. Then, number two either picks a wrapped present, or they can steal number one's present. But one present can only be stolen two times. And if number two does steal number one's present, then number one picks a new present (or, if it was later in the game, they could steal somone's present.) then it would be number three's turn. This works really well with larger groups, and everyone ends up ith a present (even though some are a little weird, it makes the game fun!)

injureddancer:  Have everyone bring a small gift (such as a fiev dollar gift) and do a gift exchange. For a really fun one have everyone draw a number, the person who draws number one gets to take a gift from the pile and unwrap it. Number 2 can then pick anotehr gift from the pile, or steal the gift from number one, in which case number 1 returns to the pile. Then, number 3 can steal number 1 or number 2's gift or take from the pile. If number 3 takes from number 1, number 1 can then steal the gift from number 2. As you can see this game could last a long time, it gets to be really fun when there's a gift that everyone wants. Also, you could try charades with two teams. Both teams designate categories (like christmas movies) but team 1 gets to pick what the actor from team 2 has to act out (such as frosty the snowman) that they think will stump the other team.

superrix83:  It's really fun to do something like a road rally aka scavenger hunt in cars... try to do holiday stuff like, find a christmas snow globe, take a picture of the best home light display... corny crap. It's a lot of fun to go around and take pictures and look for stuff. It can be a mid-party thing, too that takes only about an hour or so, depending on how many things you have to find, that way everyone can get out of the house. If you're too young to drive, you can even try and do stuff around your neighborhood and get some of your neighbors to get in on the fun, too. You could always adapt any regular game like pictionary or even trivia or charades and change the question cards to holiday stuff. Good luck! Have fun!

Papeversomniferum:  Yeah... Play Dradel and have a Kwanza feast with your Muslem neighbors and use the time productively to learn about new culture and religious practices to teach a child tolerance through participation and setting an enviornment where they can ask and have their questions answered would be the best gift you could give them. Peace and tolerance and acceptance for our future in the children we are responsable for and teach. Maybe if the atheists weren't such crybabies about everything then we would be able to teach global and cultural tolerance in schools and end all this "religious strife" they so often harp on and on and on about...

thejanith:  Beforehand, make up a bunch of 1"x2" tags of paper with names on them. These names can be historical figures, Christmas story characters, famous people -- real or fictional -- and many others. As guests arrive, pin a name to each person's back. Each person goes around asking yes/no questions until he or she has guessed the name on his or her back correctly. Only yes/no answers may be given, of course. Of course, this doesn't work if the kids are prone to cheating; it is a lot of fun, however, with honorable teens or adults. You know your guests. Some good questions to start with (I have played this many times) are things like: Is this person alive today? Was this person alive in the 1600s? 1800s? Is this person male? Female? Is this a fictional character? etc
