babubabuni: If you are close to a park with pine trees or pine trees maybe you can collect some pine cones and use them for decorations. You can spray paint them different colors (Christmas colors) and maybe pray them with spray glue and sprinkle sequence or glitter on them to make them look for festive. Another idea is getting red ribbon at the Dollar Store or Wal-Mart and making bows to put around the house.

witchangel: i just saw this idea in a magazine and it was really cute - you braid 3 different colored yarns into a length to wrap around tree- than take a use a mitten shaped cookie cutter and trace shapes around colored felt and cut out attaching to the braided yarn with small clothes pins ~ it was really cute! and cheap to make. If you like the idea I can email you the article.

Rob: The year my second daughter was born, I didn't want to drag out our decorations with a newborn in the house. I borrowed a small artificial tree. I bought a few rolls of inexpensive raffia ribbon and made bows and went to the florist and got a huge bunch bunch of baby's breath. I decorated the tree with lights, the bows and the baby's breath. It was gorgeous.
To spruce up the rest of the house, I took all the pictures off of all the walls. I went to the dollar store and bought the prettiest wrapping paper and bows I could find and a bunch of inexpensive candles and a couple boxes of shiny bulbs. I went home and wrapped all the pictures like gifts and rehung them. I made small arrangements of the candles with the shiny bulbs around them. Voila! The entire house was very Christmassy, and it was all so cheap that I could afford to just throw it away when the holiday was over.

Torobyte: Oh the stress! Are'nt the holidays suppose to be for good will and cheer? Yet you're stressing as to what to put for decorations. Hate to see what your shopping attitude is like. Seems like this time of the year is the "most" stressful time for many people, because of all the phony expectations heaped upon many.
Maybe this can help you realize that you need not stress. Christmas is a man made holiday. It's claimed to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Look in the Bible. Nowhere does it say when Jesus was born. Theologians speculate that he may have been born around late Summer. Second, there's nothing in the Bible that mentions we "have" to celebrate his birthday. All Jesus wanted was to practice a memorial of the last supper. Third, Christmas and it's traditions were borrowed from the traditions of other non-Christian cultures. The gift giving was taken from the so-called 3 wise men when they brought gifts Jesus and his parents. These 3 wise men were actually astrologers sent on a mission from King Herod to find the new messiah, so that Herod can send soldiers to kill Jesus. The Almighty God warned them to never return and they went elsewhere.
Now that you know that the Christmas holidays is nothing but a farce, you need not stress anymore. Pass this on to anyone so that people may finally open their eyes. As Jesus once said, "the truth will set you free!"

Da Coolest: If u have kids, use strings of popcorn! and hang (25 per kid) candy canes from the tree. Every night from December 1let ur children eat one candy cane as you watch a Christmas special on television, read the Christmas story or just sit by the fire drinking hot chocolate. This is a lot of fun and allows u to have family time at the end of every night in December.

young and married: Go back to KG .....
string up popcorn
make construction paper chains
and use a teddy bear as the star.
Plus it gives you time to spend with your family as you make the decorations.
