what are some good generic gifts for a yankee swap/white elephant exchange?
I'm spending Christmas Eve with my boyfriend's family. They buy presents for kids but do a Yankee Swap for the adults. The gifts are supposed to be around $15 and have to have broad appeal for people ranging in ages from 25-75. I've never done this before so I'm a bit clueless!! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

emoangel22:  Candles! Everyone can use a candle somewhere in their home. Or buy a gift certificate to a nice restaurant, or an amazon.com gift certificate.

snagelfritz:  Cracker Jacks in a box/bag. Open from the bottom and pour out and put $15 cash or a nice little gift, Put the Cracker Jacks back in and glue the bottom closed and wrap. Anything small and nice will work. If, someone like Bird Houses you can hid the Bird House and when they open their Cracker Jacks, have a treasure map they have to follow to find their Bird House.

jocohabeja:  We started doing this a couple of years ago with my mother's very large family. The first year, everyone fought over a desktop shredder and a case of beer. I couldn't understand it. We've had a lot of things like pretty throws, a bucket of tools or cleaning supplies, a basket of personal care products (including douche), novelty underwear (boxers with a big snowman across the front), Christmas decorations (nice things like unusual Santas), Kitchenwares, coffee paraphernalia, disgusting sex games. Pretty much anything goes at ours some people try to make it funny others just get nice things. Ask your boyfriend about some typical gifts at theirs and decide if you want to make a lasting impression, or just stay under the radar.
